Guided Self-Massage and Stress Reduction

Relief from pain and tension is right at your finger tips.

Receiving a professional massage is valuable, but not always possible.  Discover how effective it can be to massage yourself.  I offer guided self-massage sessions via online video calls, or in-person outdoors while COVID is still prevalent.

Sessions include guided meditation and breathwork.  Focus is on upper body so you can participate while clothed sitting in a chair.  I will teach you the basic concepts that I taught generations of students at massage school.  A little bit of training will take you a long way in knowing how to encourage your muscle fibers to let go and lengthen.

Give it a try.  Tune into your inner self.  Reset your nervous system.  Give yourself the gift of this time set aside for massage and deep relaxation.

When?  Private sessions can be arranged anytime.  One-on-one attention allows for assessment of needs, attention to specific areas of pain and holding, and teaching strategies for resolution and prevention.  $45 for 1/2-hour.  $90 for 1-hour.

If you would like to share costs, you may put together a group of up to 5 people to participate in a 1-hour group session.   It’s a great addition to a social gathering!

Resources for Self-Massage

This website, BackIntelligence.com does a nice job of illustrating ways to massage oneself.

The website BodyBack.com sells a variety of massage tools including the ones pictured here.  (I have NO affiliation with them.)  For self-massage I recommend starting with two things:

1)   a “big curved tool” like the blue “S-shaped” Body Back Buddy, or any of its many competitors, like a TheraCane®.

2)   the grey AccuMassage tool which is AMAZING to squeeze the back of the neck and the tops of the shoulders.

What People Are Saying

”Carlisle is the quintessential excellent teacher. She is passionate about her subject and truly wants to facilitate people feeling better through self massage. She is totally at ease and is able to make participants feel at ease, too. We started with meditation and breathing which helped make everyone even more comfortable. The balance between information and experiential learning was perfect. Zoom lends itself well to this subject. Carlisle is full screen and therefore guiding each and every one of us. I learned so much. I would take any class along these lines from Carlisle
