About Coaching with Carlisle
Live a Life from which you never need a “detox”…
Does living life in balance elude you? Do you get tired or overwhelmed too readily? Are you confused about what kind of food is best for your health at this time in your life? Has your medical provider told you that your blood sugar is creeping higher?
My goal as a health coach is to simplify the messages, correct misinformation, and guide you to form habits that support your health and enable you to end each day with a feeling of satisfaction. From nutrition guidelines to brain neuroscience, I want to empower you with the latest research to live the life you want. See my list of Services for what might meet your needs or design your own through Custom Coaching.

I am passionate about helping people to understand how to change habits so that blood sugar averages stay low and stable, insulin resistance is avoided/repaired and inflammation is reduced. We got so off track for about 40 years with misguided advice to restrict dietary fat and to restrict calories regardless of their source. Click here for an in-depth description of my approach to nutrition.
I respect the Health at Every Size ® movement and work from a weight-inclusive perspective. My focus is on the reclamation and protection of metabolic health. While weight loss is often a “happy side effect” of restoring metabolic balance, pounds lost will never be a goal nor measure of success. I do, however, make recommendations for dietary “do’s and don’ts” so if food restricting is of concern, let’s talk to determine if it would be wise for us to work together.
About Me:
I am an educator, a health coach, a bodyworker, a social justice activist, and an outdoor enthusiast.
Over the last 30 years, I've taught sociology, women's studies, leadership for a pluralistic society, life-skills, therapeutic massage and now I focus on education and empowerment for individuals to reclaim health and live daily life in a way that sustains them. In 2015 I became a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and I work from a HAES-informed (Health At Every Size ®) perspective with a weight-inclusive approach.
My love for backpacking, especially in the rugged High Sierras of California, keeps me motivated to retain my strength and stamina so that I can visit those high elevation places where my spirit soars.
I live a simple life split between Arcata, CA and Big Pine, CA affording me opportunities to enjoy ocean and Redwoods and desert and mountains.
