Diabetes Prevention Strategies

My approach:

Stopping the Over-Production of Insulin

Is your A1c creeping higher?  Do you have a genetic predisposition for diabetes that concerns you?  Would you like to do what you can to live a Type 2 diabetes prevention lifestyle?

Lifestyle interventions are effective in the prevention, postponement and early management of Type 2 diabetes. I advocate adopting a low-moderate glycemic diet, eating balanced meals at regular intervals, protecting an overnight fasting window, and establishing simple habits that provide for sleep, movement and stress management.  Any needed dietary restrictions can be accommodated. The key elements are reduced glycemic load, macronutrient balance and timing of meals. Read more in depth about my Nutrition Coaching here.

As described on the “Blog” page in my post titled, “Why the Rise in Diabetes and Weight Gain?,” the epidemic of Type 2 diabetes is largely misunderstood. Most cases arise from insulin resistance because the body needs to chronically produce too much insulin—due to stress, sleep deprivation, lack of exercise and a diet based heavily in high glycemic foods.  We each have the personal power to intervene in each of these areas.

What People Are Saying…

I got a high-ish A1c, so I changed my eating a little. 3 months later I got a higher A1c and I got scared. I knew I needed a coach and so started weekly consultations with Carlisle. When I was full of shame and tears, she was kind and respectful. When I needed a reality check about the serious nature of diabetes, she provided clear, understandable information. When I was freaked out, irritable and snarky, she was patient. She has SO many tools, and is skillful about offering an appropriate one at the right moment. With her steady support, I committed to the changes I had to make day by day. My next A1c went down significantly. I am relieved, proud of my hard work, grateful for her non-judgmental manner.
